Togetherness Candles
You will sometimes see these referred to as Unity or Family Candles
Togetherness Candles can form a part of your wedding celebration , your handfasting or your naming ceremony
In each case , three candles , usually two the same size and one slightly larger , are set on a table or in a triple candlestick
Both of you choose a member of your own family ( perhaps one or both of your parents if they are present ) to light one candle
During the ceremony , the celebrant will ask each of you to take a light from the candle symbolising the family from which you came , and together you will then light the central candle , which symbolises your own , new and unique , family
